Over the years I've had the privilege of working with hundreds
of runners, triathletes and other endurance athletes. Below are
just a few of the satisfied clients who've used my methods to improve
their performance.
World Masters Games
Medallist Reidar (on far right) won a bronze medal in the Pentathlon at
the 2005 World Masters in Edmonton, AB held in July 2005. Then in
September 2005, he won a bronze in the decathlon at an international
track meet in Spain. Against a strong field Reider put in personal
bests in the 100m, 400m and discus and close to PB's in the other
events. He won the 1500m race and placed second in the 100m and
400m races. - Reidar ZG, Vancouver, BC
Running Pain Free... "With the increase in my running regimen last year, I began
to experience IT Band Syndrome. It got to the point where I could
not even run for 15 minutes before the pain set in. Both my Massage
Therapist and my Chiropractor (for active release therapy) were
not able to relieve the pain. Thus, I contacted Curb and talked
to him about the running pain that I was experiencing.
After an initial assessment, Curb set up an entire fitness program
with my running and fitness goals in mind. He also introduced me
to a foam roller technique (self myofascial release) which has proven
to be my saving grace. For months now, I have been pain free and
in better shape all around thanks to Curb and his great work!" - Marianne S., Burnaby, BC
Functional training... "Curb helped me develop a functional approach to training
that benefits the sports I do. I like that he varies the program
constantly and puts a lot of focus on core strength and stability." - Dr. Sue Ironside, BSc, DC, Ironman Hawaii, Ironman Canada
& multiple marathon finisher
Recovery after ACL
surgery... "Several years ago I tore my ACL and had an operation.
After months of rehab I was able to work out again on a regular
basis. Later, certain exercises were causing more knee injuries,
inflammation and instability. After going through a couple of personal
trainers that led only to frustration and further injury, my husband
(a runner who had trained with him) recommended Curb. Curb, unlike
other personal trainers I've had, takes the time to work out a plan
that is specific to your personal needs, not an overall "one
size fits all formula" that many of the 'brand' name fitness
jocks shove at you.
He also has a deep understanding of the body
and is very committed to education and knowledge. My knee has greatly
improved in strength and agility, while not ignoring overall body
strength and improvement. I am in much better shape, without any
injuries! I am also aware of what exercises to do and which not
to do. If you are lucky enough to find Curb before finding anyone
else, you will most likely avoid wasted money, frustration and injury." - Sheri S-J, San Francisco, CA
Every runner can
benefit... "Curb is a wealth of knowledge. His approach to running,
training and relearning what I thought I knew about moving was well
researched and made sense. He had a well thought out answer to any
of our questions and if he wasn't sure, he would research and present
his findings, always reflecting and applying his research and approach.
Clinic time was used extremely well, there was no 'fill' or dead
time. I also liked his hand outs, emailed reminders, homework and
links that were valuable in reviewing exercises and the science
behind Curb's approach.
I recommended his clinic to numerous friends and feel everybody
that runs regularly can benefit from this clinic. I have always
been a slow poke but have recently been able to keep up with faster
runners for a full 3 hour run!" - Sibylle Tinsel, www.clubfatass.com
Reduced lower back
pain... "I haven't done group running training before, apart from
marathon and Knee Knacker training run sessions but this is a great
way for runners to improve their style and performance.
Working with Curb has had a big impact on reducing my lower back
pain. Changing my running cadence and thinking about performance
running will make a big difference to my results and overall health." - Lawrence K., West Vancouver, BC
