Customer Reviews

Over the years I've had the privilege of working with hundreds of runners, triathletes and other endurance athletes. Below are just a few of the satisfied runners who've used my methods to improve their performance.

World Masters Games Medallist
Reidar (above, far right) won a bronze medal in the Pentathlon at the 2005 World Masters in Edmonton, AB held in July 2005. Then in September 2005, he won a bronze in the decathlon at an international track meet in Spain. Against a strong field Reider put in personal bests in the 100m, 400m and discus and close to PB's in the other events. He won the 1500m race and placed second in the 100m and 400m races.

Took 20 minutes off half-marathon PR
"I've been doing your Runner's workout DVD's since June and do it 3-times a week. I am amazed at how much it has helped with my running. I feel so much more confident about my running, but also about my body.

I've been a runner and a swimmer all my life and thin but never liked the way I look. With the DVDs, I have found that I've been able to do a total body makeover so that I am stronger and feel better about myself and how I look. It's such a great complement to my running and the combination of running and the workouts has gotten me into a more dedicated routine than I ever have been in before.

I love the DVDs and I took 20 minutes off of my half-marathon time. I'm confident I can get even faster in my next race.

My chiropractor and running partner also commented on how much of a difference it made and asked where they can get your videos.

Running Pain Free...
"With the increase in my running regimen last year, I began to experience IT Band Syndrome. It got to the point where I could not even run for 15 minutes before the pain set in. Both my Massage Therapist and my Chiropractor (for active release therapy) were not able to relieve the pain. Thus, I contacted Curb and talked to him about the running pain that I was experiencing.

After an initial assessment, Curb set up an entire fitness program with my running and fitness goals in mind. He also introduced me to a foam roller technique (self myofascial release) which has proven to be my saving grace. For months now, I have been pain free and in better shape all around thanks to Curb and his great work!"

Functional training...
"Curb helped me develop a functional approach to training that benefits the sports I do. I like that he varies the program constantly and puts a lot of focus on core strength and stability."

I'm running better than ever...
"I have been practicing the various drills and "Curbism's' into my weekly runs and I've reached the point where core running form feels more natural to me than my old style of running. In fact when I try and go back to my original running style it feels awkward and hurts.

I've been using the flipper feet and the foreward lean in my training runs and was feeling an improvement in running, but last night I incorporated the running "A's" (heel up to glute) into my form and the difference in power and efficiency was incredible. My running felt effortless, easy and powerful. I was doing a farlek workout so got tired, not from the running, but from the increased pace. I'm sure if I was doing an easy-moderate paced run I could have run for miles. It was a "eureka" moment for me.

This new found energy has given me a renewed enthusiasm for running. Form wise I'm now running better than ever.

What I liked most about the clinic was the coaching. Specifically:
- the introduction and background information about Core running because it was a nice lead in to the drills.
- learning and practicing the drills. Curb's feedback and correction to individuals as they did the drills was very helpful because I could apply it to what I was or wasn't doing.
- the opportunity to repeat the drills from week to week so I could see my progress.
- videotaping running styles and the group critique. By watching myself running and listening to the group critique I could see how I was running and what changes I needed to make.
- the sessions on the track were the right length of time; not too long but long enough to get a good practice in.
- Curb's knowledge and experience both as a runner and as a personal trainer; it made him and the clinic very credible.
- Curb's relaxed approach; his encouragement and his sense of humor.

The clinic was fun. It was nice to see all the participants trying their best & encouraging one another in a fun and friendly way."

Recovery after ACL surgery...
"Several years ago I tore my ACL and had an operation. After months of rehab I was able to work out again on a regular basis. Later, certain exercises were causing more knee injuries, inflammation and instability. After going through a couple of personal trainers that led only to frustration and further injury, my husband (a runner who had trained with him) recommended Curb. Curb takes the time to work out a plan that is specific to your personal needs, not an overall "one size fits all formula" that many of the 'brand' name fitness jocks shove at you.

He also has a deep understanding of the body and is very committed to education and knowledge. My knee has greatly improved in strength and agility, while not ignoring overall body strength and improvement. I am in much better shape, without any injuries! I am also aware of what exercises to do and which not to do. If you are lucky enough to find Curb before finding anyone else, you will most likely avoid wasted money, frustration and injury."

Every runner can benefit...
"Curb is a wealth of knowledge. His approach to running, training and relearning what I thought I knew about moving was well researched and made sense. He had a well thought out answer to any of our questions and if he wasn't sure, he would research and present his findings, always reflecting and applying his research and approach.

Clinic time was used extremely well, there was no 'fill' or dead time. I also liked his hand outs, emailed reminders, homework and links that were valuable in reviewing exercises and the science behind Curb's approach.

I recommended his clinic to numerous friends and feel everybody that runs regularly can benefit from this clinic. I have always been a slow poke but have recently been able to keep up with faster runners for a full 3 hour run!"

Reduced lower back pain...
"I haven't done group running training before, apart from marathon and Knee Knacker training run sessions but this is a great way for runners to improve their style and performance.

Working with Curb has had a big impact on reducing my lower back pain. Changing my running cadence and thinking about performance running will make a big difference to my results and overall health."
