Core Running Camps & Clinics
Most runners were never taught how to run properly. If they joined a running clinic they most likely started with a walk/run program with very little instruction on running technique.
Upcoming camps & clinics

Testimonials & Results
"I thought the course was pretty awesome with a good mix of theory and drills.
I cannot say enough about these training sessions with Curb. His holistic approach is so much more than just learning to run. In addition to running technique, I learned about dynamic stretching, nutrition, running shoes, weight training and much more.
At first I found that trying the Core Running technique actually felt weird and made me quite sore the first couple of sessions. Curb told us to gradually introduce the new technique as our bodies were still adjusting. After a while I found that my body automatically adjusted to the new technique. When I was tired I had so many new techniques to try in all aspects of my running and it really improved my overall performance.
I just finished the BMO Vancouver half-marathon and I beat the goal that I had planned. I credit this to Curb's techniques as I was able to run faster, stronger and had so many new running techniques to apply... such as tackling running uphill and running downhill properly.
I highly recommend Curb's courses as he is very knowledgable and more importantly is able to transfer this knowledge into effective coaching and training. I will be attending more of his sessions in the future as I now have a new personal best to beat!" Jen D.
"It's been really helpful to learn efficient technique while training to run further.
The most helpful parts have been technique: more frequent cadance, landing on the balls of my feet, and especially leaning forward. When running, I now go through the mental checklist of these and the other things we've learned, and I know that I'm improving my speed or making it easier to run. I can feel it. Going uphill, and downhill, is now easier.
Other information was helpful too: the "in clinic" talks and your DVD
You've mentined that as runners we often just go out and start running without really knowing what to do. And that's exactly what I did. Now that I'm more involved, it's great to have specific "how-to" instructions. I can feel that it makes it easier or smoother." Deborah G.
"Having just started running in April, I was sure that I could improve my technique. Your clinic has been great in that week by week you have given me the building blocks needed to do this. I now find that I am able to finish a run less exhausted than before. When the fatigue sets in I am able to focus on your advice and technique myself through the tiredness (hill running in particular used to leave me gasping at the top, now not so much). What is especially good is that I look around at everyone else doing the clinic and know that their technique has improved too.
I loved the gradual building on drills each week. What seemed really odd to begin with, made sense by the end.
I really love the workout DVD's. They are a great workout for the days between runs.
Thanks for your time Curb. I appreciate it." Vanessa S.
"My running improved by:
- striking on the proper part of my foot (midfoot)
- improving my posture
- learning about effective hill running techniques to not be burned out by the end of an uphill
- learning how to control my speed on down hill slopes
- moving my arms more straight to reduce wasted energy
- being educated about myofacial muscle release prepared me to use the foam roller effectively to smooth out my IT band
- the individual pointers or constructive feedback
- a combination of theory and a chance to apply it after
- the "Run Better" clinic manual
- notes sent via e-mail about the topics covered for the class (I find this very useful so I can refer to it in the future incase I forget)
- the class where we all looked at each others running and made comments on how to improve each person." Adeva C.
"The clinic definitely improved my running technique. Both the track and hill workouts have helped me run more efficiently, and with fewer aches and pains. I'm now much more conscious of what I'm doing wrong (especially when I start to get tired) and know how to improve my form.
The dynamic warm-up stretches and the cool-down stretches were great - I've now incorporated them into my routine
The DVD workout was relatively quick but effective (though it was hard to fit in a regular 35 minute workout when I'm already running four times a week and working full time).
There was a fair amount of individual attention and coaching - more so than I expected in a group clinic. Curb was consistently informative, positive and encouraging, and the group camaraderie made every session fun." Lynne D.
"This class has taken place while I've been training for my first half marathon. It's been really helpful to learn efficient technique while training to run further.
Other information was helpful too: the "inclinic" talks and your workout DVD's (did it about 6 times - know it needs to become more regular).
You've mentined that as runners we often just go out and start running without really knowing what to do. And that's exactly what I did. Now that I'm more involved, it's great to have specific "how-to" instructions. I can feel that it makes it easier or smoother." Deborah
"I have been practicing the various drills and "Curbism's" into my weekly runs and I've reached the point where core running form feels more natural to me than my old style of running. In fact when I try and go back to my original running style it feels awkward and hurts.
I've been using the flipper feet and the foreward lean in my training runs and was feeling an improvement in running, but last night I incorporated the running "A's" (heel up to glute) into my form and the difference in power and efficiency was incredible. My running felt effortless, easy and powerful. I was doing a farlek workout so got tired, not from the running, but from the increased pace. I'm sure if I was doing an easy-moderate paced run I could have run for miles. It was a "eureka" moment for me.
This new found energy has given me a renewed enthusiasm for running. Form wise I'm now running better than ever.
What I liked most about the clinic was the coaching. Specifically:
- the introduction and background information about Core running because it was a nice lead in to the drills.
- learning and practicing the drills. Curb's feedback and correction to individuals as they did the drills was very helpful because I could apply it to what I was or wasn't doing.
- the opportunity to repeat the drills from week to week so I could see my progress.
- videotaping running styles and the group critique. By watching myself running and listening to the group critique I could see how I was running and what changes I needed to make.
- the sessions on the track were the right length of time; not too long but long enough to get a good practice in.
- Curb's knowledge and experience both as a runner and as a personal trainer; it made him and the clinic very credible.
- Curb's relaxed approach; his encouragement and his sense of humor.
- The clinic was fun. It was nice to see all the participants trying their best and encouraging one another in a fun and friendly way. You did a fantastic job Curb." Carly M.
